Ester comes from a troubling past and just like any low-class back alley feline he did not live well. He was born sometime during the 1700s to a helpless mother and a spiteful demon in economically struggling Spain. Deprived of any relation with his father, his mother, who was young at the time, put in her best efforts to raise him despite circumstance while competing against all odds. Can you imagine what jobs were available for a single mother with an infant during the 1700s? Not very many appealing ones. Regardless, Ester pretty much grew up rouge with little punishment or consequence. He adopted an appetite for trouble, often caught thieving or trespassing where he shouldn't roam freely--consequence which fell onto the shoulders of his mother. He didn't take to authority and behaved with all the self-entitlement of a spoiled brat. Ester regrettably treated his mother poorly... proving difficult more often than not until eventually, he'd worn her down to such exhaustion that she became ill. Ester was not the sole cause of this illness but rather another entity whom, to spite Ester's father in an unmarked supernatural feud, had impregnated his mother again, with a second child. Saulo who lives under the American identity Skylar Loyal was born, half human, half-demon, and cursed colorless; an albino. Enraged, betrayed, jealous, and distraught, Ester fled his mother and brother just shy of his early teens.
He never returned home nor saw his mother again.

Ester has four out of nine lives left. Here's a brief history on how he lost those previous five lives. Keep in mind that these are a morbid chain of events that aren't for the faint of heart. Primera vida; Ester did not make friends easily due to his high-energy and difficult character. He didn't always learn from his mistakes and often troubled those who accompanied him on his foolhardy endeavors. He had a certain unmatched intellect and dangerous behavior which made him a high-risk child. Many mothers did not allow their sons to play with him as a result of his infamous title and so he sought other ways of befriending boys his own age. By this time Ester had discovered his ability to take animal shape, in this case the shape of a black feline. A kitten. At first he used this ability to persuade potential play-mates of his awesome and cool; but his efforts quickly backfired. He learned unfavorably quickly that this hidden talent was not something everyone could do, and thus not something he could share for fear of being labeled a demon and outcast. The very efforts Ester put towards potential friendships led to his undoing. Mothers filled the heads of their children with stories that told of the dangers and consequences of playing with the black cat (a demon spirit) which led to one of Ester's earliest, most prominent memories of rejection. He was ensnared in one of the alleys he often occupied in hopes of running into the local boys and stoned to death, and so lost his very first life during his early years while still living with his mother. Segunda vida; Ester was a very careless child and often made poor decisions which led to his inevitable folly. One of these mistakes took place in feline form once again where one evening, after arguing with his mother, he ran away from home in hopes of teaching his mother a lesson. He wanted to hurt her and have her beg for his return; a selfish, cruel act which he had learned by observing the local children and their relationships with their mothers. Regardless, one of those nights he spent away from home he made the mistake of sleeping along a butcher-shop windowsill. Needless to say... he awoke very quickly to his own slaughter which proved rather startling to the butch once having discovered the demon's escape shortly after having severed him into many pieces. Ester will never forget the pain of slaughter, of being butchered and experiencing such extreme sensation. He only counts himself lucky for having the energy to quickly reform his severed body and retreat. These are one of few injuries that he carries on his body today. Tercera vida; In 1848 trains came to Spain! You can imagine Ester's inexperience with trains and the railroad system after having been born during the early 1700s. Despite his age, he looks about mid-late teens at this time and finally moved to more populated areas to chance at mingling with the wealthier folk. By this point he's experienced a great many things and has learned that he cannot place his trust in others. How funny that this would also apply to himself-- during one of his first nights staying in-town, he was drunk too, he'd carelessly fallen asleep over the railroad tracks and woke to an abrupt end. Let it be noted that he was marked as one of the very first casualties claimed by the new railroad system in Spain. He has since had a severe fear of trains and hasn't dared to step foot on or near one. Cuarta vida; Coming Soon. Quinta vida; Coming Soon. |
